We design calm, low-energy buildings in timber, stone and light — homes, workplaces and public spaces meant to be loved for a hundred years.

Practice
Atelier Nord is a studio of 24 architects and designers led by Ingrid Solberg and Marcus Wei. We work at every scale, from a single cabin to a city block, with the same obsession for proportion, daylight and material honesty.
Every project starts with the site and ends with a building that uses a fraction of the energy of its neighbours.

Process
01
We walk the land, study the light and write the brief with you.
02
Models, sketches and two or three distinct directions to react to.
03
Structure, energy modelling, materials and cost plan aligned.
04
Planning, permits and a full construction set drawn in-house.
05
Weekly site visits until the keys are in your hand — and a review a year after.
What drives us
Good architecture is quiet, durable and generous to the people who use it.
Fjordhus, Bainbridge Island
average operational energy versus code-minimum buildings
Mass timber, reclaimed stone and lime plaster wherever the structure allows.
Every room is modelled for light hour by hour, season by season.
We design for the specific site, climate and culture — never a signature style.
